C-R-A-Z-Y

That's pretty much how my life is feeling at the moment. Sleep, wake up go to gym, drink coffee, go to work, study, go home, sleep. Thank goodness for the weekends, because although they tend to be similar they also involve the word "relax" or at the very least "do some cool/fun stuff". The unit I am doing now is just way harder than the last and seems to be NEVER ending. However it will end at the beginning of May, so its all not so bad really.

Anyhow, the weekend.

Markets with Mel, seems to becoming a weekly event. Happy Birthday for Friday Mel. We dodged cheap and filling bacon and eggs this week in preparation for...

BBQ on Saturday arvo. Thanks to those who came- even though I seem to have a knack for picking a time that people can't come, I always get a few cool people along which makes the day fun. I want to join a union.

Lucy leaving. Sad times. It was a good Summer, and our not so little house in Kew will now enter a different phase.

Study on Sunday. When they say the comprehensive question with take 190 minutes, they weren't exaggerating.

Regurgitator at the Corner. Seriously seriously AWESOME. Mel and I went with Alan and two of his mates from work, all of whom had RDOs today, so Mel and I were starting to look tired and stressed about getting up early and heading to work (in Horsham in Mel's case). But you can't do anything but dance and have fun when The Gurge come on stage. They played for nearly 90 minutes, and still didn't get through all their big hits. Now that is cool.

The weekend has to be a little quieter- I need some recovery time!

Study Study Study

Life continues to be excitingly centred around going to work, the gym, studying, eating and sleeping for me at the moment. I'm so glad that I actually am interested in what I am studying at the moment (Tax, oh Joy I hear all the normal people say), because last week I spent a good 15-20 hours reading through notes and doing activities, on top of my work which is also tax focused.

But I have been fitting in some other stuff:
  • Dodgy Yum-Cha: not in a food-poisoning way or anything, but in a it-can-be-so-much-better way. Must got again soon to a really busy place with a huge variety
  • Shopping: I went to buy bras, and came back with two new shirts, new pants, a new dress and bras. I love discount shopping on Bridge Road, got some reasonable deals and mark-downs, and nice stuff.
  • Grey's Anatomy: Lucy endeavoured, and managed to watch the whole of Season 2 before Season 3 started on Sunday night. Try not to get caught up in it!!
  • Markets and breakfast with Mel and Lucy: Its nice to know that somethings don't change that much!
  • New House: Continues to be fantastic.
Coming up:
  • BBQ House warming on Saturday
  • Regurgitator concert on Sunday night (bad girl going out on a school night)
  • Friday night drinks with some old work-buddies
  • Info session about accountants working in the UK - got to keep the dream alive

Vietnam

Right not I'm sitting late back in the office studying...seriously the amount of reading and activity I have to do seems never ending at the moment! So I have to have something to look forward to...

When Sharmini visited AUS over Christmas (she is temporarliy calling KL home again) we talked about going to somewhere in Asia, probably Vietnam...I am waiting for her to get back to me about timing before I book, but in the meantime I have had a little look on Lonely Planet's website:

Most visitors to Vietnam are overwhelmed by the sublime beauty of the country's natural setting: the Red River Delta in the north, the Mekong Delta in the south and almost the entire coastal strip are a patchwork of brilliant green rice paddies tended by women in conical hats.

There are some divine beaches along the coast, while inland there are soaring mountains, some of which are cloaked by dense, misty forests. Vietnam also offers an opportunity to see a country of traditional charm and rare beauty rapidly opening up to the outside world.

Hmm, sounds nice.

Anyhoo, back to Tax deductions...

Quote of the day

"To those of you who received honours, awards, and distinctions, I say well done. And to the C students, I say you too may one day be president of the United States." - George W. Bush (Aka Leader of the Free World), Yale University commencement speech.

I'm addicted to the West Wing, because with leaders like George Bush, and John Howard (although I will concede that he is as brilliant in the intelligence stakes as Bush appears to be stupid...even if they both appear to have no morals), you need to believe that leaders can be better.

Moving

My main news of the last couple of weeks is that I have moved to Kew, and I am just loving it here. Our new house is great, it takes me 30 minutes instead of about 70 minutes to get to work and back (with coffee en route), our new little area is filled with cafes and shops, and there is a great gym 10 minutes walk from my house, which means I have started going to classes before work again (which will be great when my body clock adjusts to the change).

In other news, I found out on Friday that not only did I pass my first CA subject, but I got a merit. So so so happy about that, and I have started putting in the work on my next module. This term though I am going to try much harder to be a bit more balanced and keep getting out to do the things I enjoy....this weekend has probably been a good start: some study, breakfast and markets with Mel, watching Grey's Anatomy and The West Wing and later on this arvo, the St Kilda Festival. Very excited about that!! Hoping its not too insane down there.
